Stellantis, CATL Partner on $4.3B EV Battery Plant in Spain
December 16, 2024 : Stellantis, a multinational automotive corporation, and Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited (CATL), a leading global battery manufacturer, have announced a strategic partnership to establish a significant battery cell manufacturing plant in Europe. This joint venture aims to bolster the region’s electric vehicle (EV) industry and strengthen the supply chain for critical battery components.
The new facility, to be constructed in Spain, will have an annual production capacity of 40 gigawatt-hours. This substantial investment underscores Europe’s growing importance as a hub for EV manufacturing and the increasing demand for high-performance batteries.
